This is a super clean domestic original copy of Chi-Congo, a great 1973 album by one of my favorite groups of all-time. This one has the classic lineup of Roscoe Mitchell, Joseph Jarman, Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors and Famoudou Don Moye. Only Mitchell and Don Moye remain from this lineup all these years later, and I'm happy to report they have teamed up with an incredible crew to push their music into a sixth decade; I recently had the chance to see them perform and they're still an absolute national treasure. Throughout their history and still today, they sound like the Art Ensemble and nothing else. If you like your jazz dapper and serious you won't want anything to do with this one. It's wild, adventurous, and insane -- an absolute joy if you can get down with that.
Cover: VG (small splits on spine and seams, light ringwear on back)
