This is a domestic Atlantic promo copy (standard labels) pressed at Monarch with exceptional sound. I also have a version made at Presswell and I think this one steals its lunch money. This is an excellent compilation that covers Mingus material from 1956 - 1961. Mingus is one of my heroes and I would advocate just getting every single one of the albums that these songs come from, but this is a great entry point if you just want to get some great sounding Mingus on your table in quick order. The vinyl plays mostly quietly, though there is light surface noise behind the quietest parts (like bass solos) and at the very start of side two. For the most part, this one plays as clean as it looks.
