This is a STUNNING SOUNDING gorgeous RCA original pressing from 1988 with Sterling stamps in the dead wax. The album was famously recorded with one microphone in one day at a church in Toronto, making it a very unique recording. Many copies I've played are marred by substantial surface noise, which really gets in the way of such a delicate recording. This one plays super quietly and sounds incredible. There can be pretty big differences between pressings in my experience and this one is killer -- exceptionally rich, warm, and full-bodied. It has their famous cover of Sweet Jane and a bunch of other great songs as well.
4 1/2 stars on Allmusic: "It's still remarkable at how timeless it sounds, and its beauty is -- in stark contrast to its presentation -- voluminous and rich, perhaps even eternal."
Cover: VG+ (strong with very light wear)
Play notes: A superb pressing that just nails this recording, quiet vinyl too!
We prefer to overdeliver and therefore grade conservatively. Our scale runs Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good Plus (G+), Good (G).
