This is a British Charisma pressing (pink small Mad Hatter label) from the late '70s. Genesis records are tough to find with truly exceptional sound, I think perhaps the dense mixes keep them from hitting the highest level, but this copy sounds quite good and kept up nicely with the original I checked it against. It's rich and dynamic with good energy, it's also a bit more transparent than the average pressing. The vinyl plays with a touch of light surface noise at times -- for whatever reason, a huge majority of the early UK Genesis pressings I buy have surface noise issues, more so than almost any other band of the era I can think of. For sound this good, I can live with a bit of static behind the music, and it certainly never steps up front or overpowers anything. This is a great copy for someone who wants a taste of what a good Genesis pressing can do.Allmusic: "These are the songs that showed what Genesis could do, and they still stand as pinnacles of what the band could achieve."
Vinyl: VG+ (faint hairlines, nothing that could be felt)
Cover: VG+ (strong)
Play notes: Very good sound, plays with some light surface noise at times.
