This is an early Impulse reissue pressed somewhere between 1967 and 1972 with the Red and Black label and a gatefold cover. It's a 1965 recording with Coltrane and crew (McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Rashied Ali, Pharaoh Sanders, and Jimmy Garrison) venturing deeper into free jazz. The sound is good and the vinyl plays mostly quietly. Allmusic gives the album 4 1/2 stars and calls it "awe-inspiring".
Vinyl: VG+ (light pressing dimples that do not affect play)
Cover: VG+ (sturdy with light ringwear)
Play notes: Good sound, mostly quiet, a bit of light surface noise at the start of side two
We prefer to overdeliver and therefore grade conservatively. Our scale runs Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good Plus (G+), Good (G).
