This is an early Blue Note pressing on the black and light blue label with VAN GELDER in the dead wax. I went through a big stack of jazz recently in the hopes of finding some gems for the site and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Lou Donalson's later output may not do much for serious Blue Note purists, but he's teamed up with a solid crew here including Blue Mitchell on trumpet and the great Idris Muhammad on drums. The sound is wonderful -- big and dynamic with a strong bottom end -- and the vinyl plays quietly throughout.
Vinyl: VG+ (super clean)
Cover: VG+ (cut curler, light wear)
Play notes: Excellent sound and quiet vinyl
