This is an original UK pressing from 1972 with the matte sleeve and 2E/1E stampers. Transformer is one of my all-time favorite albums. I’ve done a ton of shootouts for this album, and to my ears there is no serious competition for the early British copies like this one. The sound is incredibly rich throughout with a really strong bottom end. It’s a killer recording by the great Ken Scott and this pressing certainly does it justice.
I pay good money to have these shipped over from England regularly and more often than not the copies are disappointing and/or noisy. So while you might pay a little less for a copy somewhere else, this one's been cleaned and tested, so it's guaranteed to play quietly and sound great. If you want to hear this album sound amazing and don't want to bother with the trouble of tracking down a great pressing, this one will definitely do the trick!
Vinyl: VG+ (a few light hairlines under hard light)
Cover: VG+ (light ringwear, some minor creases)
Play notes: Quieter than most copies I bring in and it sounds truly amazing!
