This is a strong 1984 Elektra pressing. The Elektra versions were cut by Howie Weinberg at Masterdisk and in my experience sound substantially better than the Megaforce originals (I have one in my collection with no idea how or when I picked it up). It comes complete with the lyric inner sleeve and is in strong condition all around. The sound is pretty good if not quite amazing, I've heard copies that are a step up but they are not easy to come by. I remember not being very impressed with the somewhat recent reissue but to be fair it's been years since I've played it. I might not push this one on the most demanding audiophiles, but for otherwise it's a great early copy that performs well enough and plays quietly.
5 stars Allmusic: "The true heart of Ride The Lightning lies in its rich musical imagination. There are extended, progressive epics; tight, concise groove-rockers; thrashers that blow anything on Kill 'Em All out of the water."
Vinyl: VG+ (Light superficial scuffs on side two with no effect on play)
Cover: VG+ (Really nice with a tiny pinhole upper left)
Play notes: Good sound, quiet vinyl, should beat any original
We prefer to overdeliver and therefore grade conservatively. Our scale runs Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good Plus (G+), Good (G).
