This is a 1969 White Label Promo pressing (Monarch plant, gatefold cover) with quiet vinyl and strong sound. I'm always on the lookout for clean Otis originals but rarely have any luck, so I was pretty excited to spot this one out in the wild. Otis is in fine form here, rocking out on the uptempo numbers and pouring his heart out like only he can on the ballads. He's backed by a great lineup including Booker T. and much of his crew (Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Al Jackson) with a strong brass component and even Isaac Hayes filling in keys at times. The sound is clean and solid with lots of energy and the vocals sounding just right, the brass is also particularly good on this copy.
Vinyl: VG+ (a couple of superficial marks that don't affect play, address stamp on labels)
Cover: weak VG (lots of ringwear, some edge wear, small tear on back)
Play notes: plays quietly and sounds strong throughout
We prefer to overdeliver and therefore grade conservatively. Our scale runs Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good Plus (G+), Good (G).
