This is a British Vertigo Spaceship label pressing from 1973 with the quietest vinyl I've heard on an early copy of this album. I've had swirl label copies that knocked me out, but usually find them too noisy to really enjoy. This one may not be quite at the same sonic level, but it's still quite good and sounds correct -- clean, clear, and natural. There's nothing fancy about it and nothing phony about it -- and I think that's true to the spirit of the music. This is the same album that was released stateside as "The Rod Stewart Album".
Allmusic 4 1/2 stars: "On his debut album, Rod Stewart essays a startlingly original blend of folk, blues, and rock & roll."
Cover: VG+ (old price tag on back, Made In England sticker on back)
Play notes: Sounds correct and plays quietly
