This is a 1973 German Apple Pressing with phenomenal sound and quiet vinyl. This version features the last three songs (Penny Lane, Baby You're A Rich Man, and All You Need Is Love) in true stereo, which is in contrast to many other pressings where they are electronically re-processed and don't sound nearly as good. While my favorite copies of this album are always the German versions, not every German pressing is a winner. There are some pretty bad sounding copies out there! Thankfully, this one was an absolute knockout. It comes from the collection of Ronald Kane, who was a well-known collector in these parts. Side two's label has his "Property of..." sticker.
Magical Mystery Tour has always been one of my favorite Beatles releases and when I first heard this version my mind was absolutely blown -- it takes the music to places I've never heard on copies from anywhere else. Drop the needle on any track and prepare to be blown away, the sound is incredibly rich, super full-bodied, and full of texture. It's so transparent that you can really focus in on all the crazy studio work that went into this recording. What a treat!
