This is a British original Track Records pressing in gorgeous condition. I almost never see clean UK copies out in the wild and in my experience they destroy the domestic copies. The album was not a huge seller so it wasn't pressed in the kind of numbers that some of the other stuff on Track (Hendrix, The Who) was to say the least. And speaking of The Who, Pete Townshend produced this fun album that's truly worthy of its cult classic status.
The sound here is excellent -- natural, solid, well-balanced. The vinyl plays mostly quietly with just a touch flight surface noise in spots. It's never anything serious, but there are definitely a few places where it can be heard. I don't think anyone's going to have an easy time finding a much nicer copy though. This one has some damage to the front cover (see pics), so I'm letting it go for a nice chunk off what I'd normally ask. It's a cool record that you almost never see and I'd just like to see it go to a good home!
4 1/2 stars Allmusic: "So many bands have been hauled out of obscurity to be tagged the greatest secret you've never been told. Thunderclap Newman are one of the few who actually deserve that epithet."
Vinyl: EX (super clean)
Cover: VG (sticker tears upper right, wear around edges)
Play notes: Excellent sound and mostly quiet, if you can live with the moderate cover damage this is a strong copy.
