This is a gorgeous White Label Promo copy of Nighthawks At The Diner, a great double album that kills me every time I play it. I love the songs, the band, the jokes, the crowd reactions... everything just works. I've done a number of shootouts for this album and the better copies like this one offer a lifelike immediacy that puts you right there in the Record Plant as these guys knock out an album like no other. The sound is super transparent with excellent clarity and real weight down low. All four sides play super quietly. As a lifelong Angeleno I can not help but get fired up when he starts dropping local references. I have a very similar copy with a permanent spot on the shelf of records I use to show off what my stereo can do - I just love the way this album was recorded, and a copy like this shows off what an amazing job they did.
Allmusic: "As entertainment, Nighthawks At The Diner is one of Waits' most thoroughly enjoyable albums. He's clearly jazzed by the presence of an audience, and his skills as a storyteller are marvelous."
