This is a super clean Verve Blue Label pressing from the '60s. There are so many variations of this one that it's tough to pin down exactly which one it is but it has no skull on the cover, the band's name on the spine, the Warhol credit on the back cover and the Sunset Blvd. address on the label. More importantly to me, it sounds very good and plays very quietly. This is probably the most "lo-fi" of VU's recordings but this copy has pretty much exactly the sound I look for. It's got serious energy and doesn't smooth out the essential raw quality of the music. Take that away and you have a different album. A wonderful copy to crank up loud and get lost in.
5 stars Allmusic: "Anyone wanting to hear their guitar-mauling tribal frenzy straight with no chaser will love it."
Vinyl: EX (one superficial mark that does not affect play)
Cover: VG (crease bottom right, tiny nicks on spine, light ringwear and edge wear)
Play notes: A really strong sounding copy with vinyl that plays quietly
