This is an original Japanese CBS/Sony double LP pressing from 1972, my favorite Weather Report recording for both music and sound. It's a very different feel from an album like Heavy Weather, with a vibe that owes more to the Miles Davis bands of the era. This is an exceptionally strong live recording that really gives you a sense of how this band sounded in a concert setting. I've picked up a number of copies over the years and I can't say I've heard a bad one, but some take things a bit further and this copy is solidly on that side.
Allmusic 4 1/2 stars: "This would be the radical apogee of Weather Report on records, though they could retain this level of fire in concert for years to come."
Vinyl: VG+ (light wear, very solid)
Cover: VG+ (light wear around edges)
Play notes: Amazing sound. Plays mostly quietly, side two starts with a handful of ticks under the drums
We prefer to overdeliver and therefore grade conservatively. Our scale runs Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good Plus (G+), Good (G).
